Overheard recently — while I was literally on short final, in fact:

Tower: Cessna XXX, you said you were at taxiway Alpha One? Alpha Two?

Cessna XXX: Uh… We’re holding at Alpha Three.

Tower: Right. One plus Two equals Three.
