It was probably inevitable that drone demos would be a part of a major show and this year they’re appearing at Sun ‘n Fun in the exhibit area for the first time. In a booth sponsored by Yuneec and Drone23, you can see small quadcopters demonstrated inside a large net cage that’s big enough to show how the aircraft perform.

Yuneec’s Craig Clover told AVweb on Wednesday that reaction to the exhibit has been positive and pilots and showgoers are lining up to fly the company’s Q5. Instructors are available to show newbies the ropes and everyone gets a few minutes of stick time. The Q5, which competes with industry giant DJI, sells for between $1000 and $1300, depending on accessories. The drone cage is located diagonally from the AOPA booth near the FAA building.
