Mr. Robert Bigelow to be Honored With Important Aviation Industry Award.

The “Living Legends of Aviation” will present their prestigious “Lifetime Aviation Entrepreneur Award” to Mr. Robert Bigelow, founder of Bigelow Aerospace at the 15th Annual “Living Legends of Aviation Awards.” Hosted by John Travolta, with Harrison Ford presenting the “Aviation Legacy Award,” the awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton on January 19th, 2018.

Bigelow, as a young visionary, decided in the 60’s to pursue a career that would finance his dream of accomplishing private space travel. He studied banking and real estate and, true to his word, built a commercial real estate empire capable of funding Bigelow Aerospace which he founded in 1999. Recognizing a new frontier, Bigelow forged ahead and moved into space entrepreneurship. He developed the BEAM – the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module or, more simply, a blow up space home. In April, 2016, the Space-X CRS- 8 launched the experimental BEAM to the International Space Station for a three year contract. On the horizon is the more complex B330, an expandable, self-sufficient spacecraft capable of sustaining human life on its own and projected to launch in 2020.

Bigelow has also been honored with the “Innovator Award” from the “Arthur C. Clarke” Foundation and the 2007 “Space Achievement Award” from the “Space Foundation.” The Annual Living Legend of Aviation Awards are produced by Kitty Hawk Air Academy, a 501-c-3 organization, teaching children and inspiring aviation’s next generation.
