Seattle Avionics Software today announced that FlyQ EFB version 1.5 for the iPad is now available from the Apple App Store. New version 1.5 adds support for 3 new ADS-B receivers: Stratus⁺, Freeflight, and NavWorx, bringing the total to 15 supported ADS-B receivers. In addition, this release offers dozens of other enhancements.
"FlyQ EFB has consistently been the #1 rated major aviation app in the App Store but we keep hearing that pilots want even more certified and portable ADS-B receivers." said Steve Podradchik, CEO. "Now that FlyQ EFB works with Stratus, Freeflight, and NavWorx, pilots are finally free to choose the app they like best."
New FlyQ EFB 1.5 is another major release that adds dozens of new features including improvements in ADS-B support, ease of use, and safety. FlyQ EFB 1.5 supports 15 ADS-B receivers, now including the FreeFlight Systems RANGR series of certified ADS-B In and Out systems, multiple devices from NavWorx, and the Stratus and Stratus 2 receivers from Appareo Systems. "We are really pleased that FlyQ EFB is now compatible with our RANGR line of certified ADS-B In and Out systems," said Tim Taylor, President and CEO at FreeFlight Systems, "This revision allows for a seamless transition for FlyQ users to a certified ADS-B system that meets the FAA 2020 mandate." FlyQ EFB version 1.5 improves FlyQ's already top-rated ease of use by adding Personal Waypoints (aka User-Defined Waypoints), automatic flight plan reload when the app starts, many improvements to flight planning, and a new "Map" button that makes it much faster to jump to specific locations on the map. The new FlyQ EFB simplifies selecting specific points on the map with enhanced lat/long data entry and now the ability enter a location as relative to a navaid or fix as well as the intersection of radials from two navaids.
Safety is improved by the TAWS, AGL, and Terrain X-Ray(TM) features now using much higher-accuracy terrain data, the Hazards layer in previous versions has now been split into distinct TAWS and Obstacle layers, four times more frequent updates to the Satellite cloud layer, and clearer TFR and Winds Aloft markings on the map.
Pilots flying outside the US now have ChartData(TM) downloads available for Southern Canada, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and most of the rest of Mexico for no additional charge. It also has many performance and stability improvements. More information is available at: http://seattleavionics.com/FlyQ

About Seattle Avionics: Founded in 2002, Seattle Avionics Software has been on a mission to make flying safer, easier and more fun. The company began making the award-winning Voyager Flight Software System for Windows that helped pilots create flight plans faster and easier than ever before. It later expanded into selling its brand of US and European aviation data, under the ChartData (TM) brand, to more than 20 major aviation companies worldwide including Northrup Grumman, Honeywell, Bendix-King, Aspen, Dynon, GRT, and more. With the coming of the Apple iPad, Seattle Avionics invested heavily in getting ChartData into virtually every major app and portable device. In 2010, SA partnered with AOPA to create the #1 rated major aviation app for the iPad - FlyQ EFB. Bottom line: If you fly, you probably already use some Seattle Avionics data or apps. # # # If you would like more information about this topic or want high-resolution screenshots, please contact John Rutter at +1.425.806.0249 or email at johnr@seattleavionics.com.
