Mooney International has a revamped transition training program in place for new owners of its M20 series airplanes, the company announced this week. The program, unveiled in 2014 following Mooney's re-launched production line in Kerrville, Texas, updates training for Garmin G1000 avionics and includes dual instruction in Redbird FMX full-motion simulators. The five-day program meets current industry standards to combine single-pilot cockpit management with basic flying skills, Mooney said. Pilots will fly their new aircraft to complete the program.

For now, the transition training is customized for those purchasing the new Acclaim Type S and Ovation3 models. Mooney said it's working to expand the program to accommodate all interested Mooney pilots. Mooney, which just over a year ago re-entered the market after investments from its new Chinese owners, is building M20 models in Kerrville and has plans to produce its new M10 trainers in China.Mooney previously announced it had purchased three simulators from Redbird and will install one in a facility in China.
