The high-resolution touchscreen display provides an option for owners of aircraft with smaller panels who may be looking for upgrades. The new screen also can be paired with a 10.6-inch display to serve as a backup or to provide a second screen with traffic, moving maps, charts or engine data. The price for a 7-inch system, which includes a built-in WAAS GPS receiver, synthetic vision and other features, starts at $4,599.

The display also can be integrated with a Garmin Virb video camera to view live, full-screen video, allowing pilots to stop and start video recording from the touchscreen and also to take photos from the touchscreen. Garmin first introduced the 7-inch display last summer at EAA AirVenture at Oshkosh.
