Bombardier has signed a long-term lease agreement with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) to build its new Global Manufacturing Centre at Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in Mississauga, Ontario. According to Bombardier, the facility will be “home to the most advanced aircraft manufacturing processes in the world” and will be used for activities including final assembly operations for Bombardier’s Global business jets.

“This is a strategic move for Bombardier and a strong commitment to Ontario’s aerospace industry,” said Bombardier CEO Alain Bellemare. “It will allow us to offer world-class career opportunities and continue fueling the economic development of the region for years to come.”

Bombardier says preliminary site work for the 1 million square foot Global Manufacturing Centre is already underway. Production activities are expected to begin at the center in 2023. Final assembly for Bombardier’s Global aircraft family is currently taking place at the company’s facility in Downsview, approximately 12 miles (20 km) from the new location.
