Embraer has announced that it will be building new facilities at its Eugênio de Melo unit in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The company plans to invest approximately $30 million in the project, which will include the construction of four new buildings along with the expansion and improvement of existing facilities. According to Embraer, the new buildings will be home to an engineering and technology center, customer service and administrative areas, training facilities—including space for flight simulators—for its aircraft operators, and a historical center.

“The future of the Brazilian aviation industry will be the result of what we dream and build together,” said Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto. “By announcing the expansion of the Eugênio de Melo unit … we reinforce our commitment to our people and the local community, which are both part of our strategic vision of continuous and sustainable growth.”

Embraer says around 1,500 people are currently employed at its 121-acre Eugênio de Melo campus, working in areas such as manufacturing, development, engineering, structural and systems testing, and training. Once finished, the expansion will increase site capacity to over 4,000 employees and grow facility size from 754,000 square feet to 1.2 million square feet. The improvements are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
