AVweb’s search of aviation news worldwide found a preview of Dassault Aviation’s new Falcon jet, a revamping of Russian airline Transaero, and scholarship opportunities from The Helicopter Foundation International and Women in Aviation International. Dassault Aviation this week lifted the veil on the highly anticipated Falcon 5X, which establishes a new benchmark in the large-cabin, long-range business aviation market. Presented at Dassault’s Bordeaux-Merignac final assembly facility before an audience of 400 customers, operators, suppliers and certification authority representatives, the 5X will offer the largest cabin cross-section of any purpose-built business jet. The first 5X was powered up and started system ground tests last autumn. Transaero, Russia’s largest independent airline,unveiled a new brand identity that defines their vision to be one of the world’s best airline brands. Having recently been voted Skytrax’s “World’s most improved airline” and with a new fleet entering service, Transaero has taken the opportunity to refresh and modernize its brand and identity to reflect the positive changes being driven within the business.
The Helicopter Foundation International (HFI) is accepting applications for the Michelle North Scholarship for Safety and up to eight Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Scholarships. HFI annually offers up to 19 scholarships to help support students studying to become part of tomorrow’s vertical aviation industry. Seven new scholarships will join the dozens of other scholarships available to women and men who are members of Women in Aviation International. All WAI scholarships will be awarded during WAI’s 27th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference to be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee, from March 10-12, 2016. “WAI scholarships are not simply for scholastic assistance,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “We offer flight training including type ratings and financial assistance for nearly every aviation/aerospace profession from ag flying to engineering. We even have scholarships for those who choose to simply fly for fun.”
