Why would the Air Force smash 110 piston singles to bits? That’s the question being raised by pilots in the San Antonio area this week. The Air Force says it has no use for the T3s, known by their civilian name as Slingsby Fireflys, but the folks who have watched them wither at Hondo Airport for the last nine years say they deserved a better fate and that $33 million of taxpayers’ money has been wasted.
