Close Encounter of the Third Kind Over Oshkosh!
The formation of the Aeroshell AT6s at the Saturday night air show. A slow shutter camera speed and smoke make the formation look like a UFO descending upon Wittman Field! The photo has been reduced in size to upload.
A Few Balloons …
.. in fact, 343! Taken at the Lorraine Mondial Air Balloons meeting at the end of July. This was just after the world record was set for the maximum number of balloons inflated in line; in fact, there were three lines – along the runway (7900′); along the taxiway; and a third, shorter line. Contrast adjusted and size reduced. Canon s3is 1/250, F4.

Smoke Writer at Oshkosh
With the sky writer’s “EAA” smoke trail located directly in the path of the sun, I used this warbird’s prop to block it and compose this otherwise unachievable shot. Not cropped or ‘shopped. Taken with an old Sony DSC-P8 6mm at F/5.6n 1/1600 ISO-100 exposure August 30 [2011] at noon.
Gruyere Lake
Over the “Lac de la Gruyere,” en route to the Alps after a take-off from the Gruyere air field. We had departed for a three-hour trip over the Swiss Alps (not with the tow plane!). Photo taken with a Pentax Optio P80 camera at 1/250 sec, F 7.0, focal length 5 mm. The original file was just sligthly cropped.

Oldies in Formation
I was chilling on the beach in New Hampshire when I saw these guys flying over the water. Luckily I had my Fujifilm FinePix 2950 camera handy and was able to snap a picture of all three airplanes. I think one is a Storch replica, but I could be wrong.
“Airplane!”
This is a picture of the first 767 for Dynamic Airways, after having just arrived at our base airport, INT, for the very first time. My daughter (pictured) thought it was the neatest thing and kept yelling “airplane” the whole time we were out there.
EAA Since 1996
Window of a Cessna O-1 “Bird Dog” that has been to every AirVenture since 1996. The stickers Champion spark plugs hand out at their booth in exhibition hangar A each year are a popular souvenir.
The Brat III
Going home from Oshkosh and made a fuel stop at our local airport. I heard them fly over my house and made a mad dash to the airport. Slight crop; tweaked contrast and applied unsharp mask; resized to fit upload requirements.

One of my favorite things about EAA AirVenture is the unique formations: This one was worth all the effort getting there. Thank you, Bob! Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D with 100mm lens; cropped and contrast enhanced a little.
