OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — Col. Dick Kalata, who flew helicopters in Vietnam combat missions before serving three White House administrations as pilot of the “Marine One” presidential helicopter, will be the featured speaker at the EAA AirVenture Museum on Thursday, October 20.

The presentation is part of EAA’s Aviation Adventure Speaker Series, which is free of charge and open to the public. The October 20 program begins at 7 p.m.

Col. Kalata flew a specially modified Sikorsky VH-3 helicopter during his 1970s stint as a pilot of Marine One. He will talk about earning that unique assignment as well as his experiences flying the Commander in Chief and other dignitaries.

The October 20 presentation is one of a series of extraordinary aviation speakers coming to the EAA AirVenture Museum this fall. Also scheduled this fall:

– November 17 – Col. Bud Anderson, World War II ace from the famed 357th Fighter Group. After earning 161/4 victories during World War II, Anderson became a test pilot and flew more than 100 types of aircraft. Presentation is open to the public and free of charge.

– December 9 – Apollo 13 Mission Control leader Gene Kranz as featured speaker at EAA’s annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet. Tickets for this special event are available at eaa.org/museum.
