We asked if readers felt safe in the air and despite all the gloomy headlines about incursions, mental health and flight delays, we overwhelmingly are quite comfortable in our element.

Readers have a lot of confidence that Van’s Aircraft will emerge as a viable kit company and almost a third said they’d order a kit without reservations. Others were more cautious and 21 percent said there’s too much risk for them.

Last week the FAA announced that graduates of the Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program at various universities will no longer attend the ATC Academy in Oklahoma City. It could free up space in the Academy to train more controllers but is it a good idea?

AVweb readers are solidly in favor of the FAA putting resources into pilot mental health initiatives. Almost two-thirds of respondents were strongly in favor and a tiny minority thought it a waste of time.
