A couple of years ago Sandel Avionics promised that its Avilon modular integrated flight deck would be the cost-effective and simple retrofit the industry has been waiting for. At the NBAA convention in Orlando, Florida, this week the company announced that it will begin shipping the Avilon (initially for King Air applications) in the first part of 2019. It also guaranteed a fly-away price of $175,000—significantly less than the competition.
