1. DAMAGE DESCRIPTION: AIRCRAFT WAS PARKED STRUCK FROM THE REAR BY A MOVING SECURITY FORCES VEHICLE THE SPEED AT WHICH THE CAR STRUCK THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT KNOWN AT THIS TIME. INITIAL DAMAGE ASSESSMENT TO THE AIRCRAFT IS AS FOLLOWS: PANELS 122 L&R HAVE BOTH SUSTAINED DAMAGE LEFT MLG INBOARD DOOR DETACHED FROM THE AIRCRAFT LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SUSTAINED DAMAGE (RT MLG IS SUSPECT) CENTER LINE PYLON DAMAGED BY ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO SUSPECTED DAMAGE TO THE CLP ATTACH POINTS (VEHICLE STRUCK PYLON AT AN ANGLE; THERE WAS NO C/L TANK INSTALLED)

THE AIRCRAFT IS IMPOUNDED DUE TO THE SAFETY INVESTIGATION. AS SOON AS A MORE THOROUGH DAMAGE ASSESSMENT CAN BE MADE THOSE DETAILS WILL BE FORWARDED. PHOTOS WILL BE TRANSMITTED ELECTRONICALLY TO REQUIRED AGENCIES.

Fortunately the car’s driver, his passenger and a crew chief climbing theF-15 boarding ladder only suffered minor injuries. No dollar estimate on theF-15 damage yet, but you can bet it ain’t gonna be cheap as the Eagle has beengrounded pending inspection for structural damage.
