SyberJet Aircraft said Friday its SJ30-2 completed a nonstop flight from Jacksonville, Florida, to San Diego in approximately four hours and seven minutes, setting what the company says is an unofficial east-to-west transcontinental speed record in the C-1f aircraft class. The aircraft averaged 505.3 mph during the flight, according to SyberJet.
Pending Certification
The C-1f designation is part of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale’s record classification system. C-1 covers landplanes, while the “f” weight category covers aircraft weighing at least 6,000 kilograms but less than 9,000 kilograms, or roughly 13,228 to 19,842 pounds. Gordon “Gordy” Bryan piloted the SJ30-2, and SyberJet CEO Trevor Milton was aboard. SyberJet said the flight surpassed the existing 339.4-mph record set by an Embraer Phenom 300 in 2013. Certification from the National Aeronautic Association and FAI is expected to take approximately 90 days.
“The results are fantastic,” Milton said in the company announcement. “I want to thank Gordy, the mechanics, the employees and all the supporters that watched the journey. This is exactly the kind of moment that can’t be disputed and cements the legacy of SyberJet as the fastest and farthest flying light jet in the world.”
SJ36 Plans
SyberJet said the SJ30-2 used for the flight will be displayed at NBAA-BACE 2026’s Aircraft Connection at Henderson Executive Airport in space AC-03. The SJ30-2 is FAA certified and serves as the platform for the company’s under-development SJ36.
SyberJet also plans to debut the SJ36 during its SyberJet World event, held in conjunction with NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas. The company is headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, and has operations in San Antonio, Texas, and Cedar City, Utah.
