The Weekender hopes to catch up with Santa Claus before his big cross-country flight next week, but he’s already on the move, according to SocialFlight. For starters, he’ll drop in via parachute at Bennington, Vermont’s Christmas fly-in Saturday. Stay for the holiday festivities with hot cocoa and a potluck lunch. Bring a dish to share or boxed food items to donate to the local pantry. Rain-snow date is Sunday. In Houston, the monthly Wings and Wheels fly-in will feature a visit from Santa along with the annual Aviation History Trivia Contest and an appreciation party for the volunteers at the Air Terminal Museum. Admission to the museum is waived for those who fly in (or drive in with a classic car).
If you’re in Ohio, festivities include a Christmas open house and potluck on Sunday in Fremont. Take a side dish to share for lunch and canned goods to donate; the hosts will serve pulled pork and shredded chicken sandwiches for all. Santa will make an appearance in Port Clinton at the Liberty Aviation Museum on Saturday to collect Christmas lists and pose for photos. Have yours taken by the museum for a donation.
