The Weekender’s selection on the SocialFlight calendar runs the gamut from laid-back to intense, depending on where you go. Meet hundreds of Minnesota and Wisconsin pilots, and perhaps some out-of-staters, Friday and Saturday during the Great Minnesota Aviation Gathering at Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minnesota. The event will feature aviation vendors and educational sessions from maintenance to aviation history, flight training and safety. On Saturday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, EAA Chapter 252 will host its annual S.J. Wittman birthday, celebrating the local legendary airplane designer. Enjoy Young Eagles rides, weather permitting, plus a breakfast of all-you-can-eat pancakes with all the fixings.
The AirVenturers flying club in the SoCal area will sponsor a charity poker run Saturday to benefit Real Bark, a pet rescue organization. Spend the day with fellow pilots flying airport to airport and join everyone after for a BBQ with raffle and silent auction. In Llano, Texas, the second annual TexasSTOLRoundup will take place Friday through Sunday with a variety of competitions for short takeoffs and landings for LSA, experimental, bush, light touring and heavy touring classes of aircraft.
