The Mid-Continent MD200-706 is an updated version of the MD200-306. Like the Garmin GI-106B which is based upon it, the MD200-706 offers two main upgrades over the MD200-306.
On most Indicators, the needles are always visible. If a needle is not being driven by a valid signal, a flag is displayed to warn the pilot not to follow it. The MD200-706 does not use warning flags. Instead, a needle which is not being driven by a valid signal is simply stowed out of sight. There is no possibility of a pilot following invalid guidance if the needle cannot be seen.
Additionally, all the lighting in the MD200-706 has been updated to LED. This will greatly lengthen the service life, and reduce susceptibility to vibration.
There is no non-Glideslope version of the MD200-706. This Indicator can certainly function as a non-Glideslope Indicator (with the Glideslope needle hidden), but it is admittedly more expensive than a non-Glideslope version would have been if offered.
