The Weekender has seen plenty of snow this week, so there’s no shortage of places to land a skiplane as seen on SocialFlight. Hinde Field in Huron, Ohio, will hold its Mid-Winter Chili Skiplane Fly-In on Saturday. Chili, burgers, hot dogs and beverages will be supplied; bring a covered dish if you can. Fly, drive, or snowmobile in, rain, snow or shine. The first Ski Fly-In/Drive-In at Lancaster Airpark in Bainsville, Ontario, will take place Saturday with plans to make this an annual event. All are welcome to warm up with award-winning chili and coffee.
EAA will host its annual skiplane fly-in on Saturday at Pioneer Airport at its Oshkosh headquarters. The event is free to the general public with complimentary cake and chili. Pilots who wish to fly in must get approval and flight briefings from EAA prior to landing at Pioneer’s unpaved runway. Contact Olivia Rasmus at 920-426-6599 to register. For the non-winter crowd, there’s still plenty to do. EAA Chapter 180 at Sarasota/Bradenton Airport in Florida will host B-17 and Ford Tri-Motor rides and tours all weekend.
