Twenty-one people were sent to hospitals Thursday when a Dynamic Airways Boeing 767 caught fire while taxiing for departure atFort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. One man suffered serious injuries during the evacuation of 101 passengers via emergency slides, WTVJ in Miami reported. Meanwhile, the airport closed the field, and one runway reopened around 3 p.m.
Witnesses captured photos and video of black smoke billowing from the left side of the aircraft as fire and rescue crews arrived around 12:30 p.m. and doused the fire with foam.A pilot in an aircraft taxiing behind the Boeing reported to ATC,“The left engine looks like it’s leaking a lot of fuel. There is fluid leaking out of the left engine,” followed by “engine’s on fire,” according to a CNNreport. ANational Transportation Safety Board tweet said a four-person team was sent to Fort Lauderdale to investigate.
