Beacon flew its first flights on Tuesday for a new all-you-can-fly service. The company charges a monthly fee of $2,000 and offers 18 flights every day between Boston Logan Airport and Westchester Airport in New York. CEO Wade Eyerly says the service will get travelers point-to-point in about two hours, which is about half the time it takes to travel by road or by air shuttle via La Guardia. Eyerly also founded Surf Air, which operates a similar service on the West Coast with its own fleet of Pilatus PC-12 turboprops. Beacon has partnered with charter operator Dynamic Aviation, based in Virginia, and is starting the service with three Beechcraft King Air 200 turboprops that carry six passengers each.
Eyerly told GreenwichTime he plans to add service to Washington, D.C., within a year. The company also will offer seasonal service to the Hamptons and Nantucket, starting next summer. Eventually, Eyerly said the company plans to operate 27 aircraft, with more destinations to be added, including Martha’s Vineyard and Philadelphia.
