[Tuesday update – AOPA Reverses]

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association announced Sunday that it is ending its use of X, formerly known as Twitter.

“We have made the decision to stop using X and will no longer monitor our inbox, feed, or mentions,” the organization said in a final post. “Look for us on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube; just search flywithaopa. We’d love to see you there!”

AOPA did not provide a reason for leaving the platform in its announcement. The organization has not yet responded to AVweb’s request for comment on Monday.

AOPA probably does not wish to be associated with extreme political views or with policies that harm GA.

  2. X fired the management team and employees that were engaged in extreme censorship when Elon bought it

  3. The “extreme political policies” were under the previous owner of X/Twitter. My guess is that AOPA has moved increasingly left since they fired Darrell Pleasance.

  4. Hummm, it sounds like AOPA is becoming politically motivated. Perhaps this is an indication that I need to leave AOPA after many decades.
