Digging into SocialFlight this week, we found everything from an air museum’s tribute to Jerrie Mock on the 50th anniversary of her flight around the world through antique airplanes aviating to a fly in serving foot-long hot dogs. Fly in foot-long hot dog day is coming up on Saturday April 12 at Sugar Hill Airport, Greenwood, Del. It starts at 8:00 a.m. and goes through 3:00 p.m. and features all-beef foot-long hot dogs, nachos plus breakfast sandwiches for early arrivals. It’s Family Day at Cleveland’s Burke Lakefront airport on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Hosted by the International Women’s Air and Space Museum, this year’s event is centered on the 50th anniversary of the first flight around the world by a woman. There will be ten stations set up to represent many of the stops on Jerrie Mock’s record-setting flight.

EAA Chapter 614 is holding its Spring Fly In on the Pineville, La., Airport this weekend. Lasting from Friday evening (April 11), through Sunday morning (April 13), it features homebuilts, LSAs and seaplanes as well as plenty of food. It’s the second Saturday of the month, so the WAAM Air and Auto Museum will be opening the doors and rolling out some of its collection of antique airplanes, cars and motorcycles from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s on the Hood River, Ore., Airport. The organizers say you can watch the antiques fly, get a ride in one of the cars and join everyone for lunch. Thank you to SocialFlightfor keeping us abreast of what’s happening.
