Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Sunday updating the FAA’s NOTAM system will be expedited by his administration after another outage took the primary system out late Saturday. In announcing the outage on X Duffy said “there is no impact to the National Airspace System because a backup system is in place.” The main system was back in service about 11 a.m. EST.

“The NOTAM system is online and operational,” the FAA said in a statement Sunday. “There were no operational impacts in the National Airspace System.” Two years ago the system went down without a backup, causing a nationwide ground stop. That outage was traced to an error by contractors who were updating software in the system.
