EAA confirmed Thursday afternoon that the pilot of a Breezy which crashed at Wittman Field that morning died from his injuries. The female passenger remains in serious condition. Spokesman Dick Knapinski said the names of the victims have not been released nor are the circumstances of the crash known.

The crash temporarily closed the airport. Knapinski said on Thursday that FAA and NTSB officials on hand for the show went to the scene to investigate. EAA said air ops were halted for a little more than an hour as first responders worked the scene of the crash, which was located off the approach end of runway 36 at Wittman Field. No other details were available as of Friday morning.

WSAW is reporting that two brothers from Kentucky suffered non-life-threatening injuries when their unidentified homebuilt crashed while they were attempting to land at a private strip near the Hickory Oaks prison. Officials told the station the two were there for AirVenture.
