Lightspeed Aviation Foundation launched its sixth annual Pilot’s Choice Awards Thursday, with 12 charitable organizations named from hundreds of nominees as the finalists. They’ll seek online votes from the public to win up to $10,000 in grants from the foundation. The finalists are: Angel Flight West, Civil Air Patrol, Experience Aviation, JAARS, Miracle Flights for Kids, Missionary Flights International, Mission Aviation Foundation, New Tribes Mission Aviation, The Ninety-Nines, Patient AirLift Services, Patriots Jet Team Foundation and Pilots N Paws.

Anyone can vote at the foundation’s website with vote rankings updated regularly. During last year’s competition, about 75,000 votes were tallied. The final awards will be announced on Oct. 16 at the Flying Aviation Expo in Palm Springs, California. “By encouraging outreach through our finalists, we have witnessed hundreds of thousands of lives touched through aviation,” says Allan Schrader, Lightspeed Aviation president. “We’re excited about the impact each of these organizations are having in their areas of service. Together we will build a better future through aviation.”
