XtremeAir, a German company that has been selling a kit-built tandem aerobatic airplane known as the sBach 342, now has a certified version, which the company brought to Sun ‘n Fun for the first time last week. The company also now has an official dealer based in Florida — SunQuest Aviation, in West Palm Beach — where one of the airplanes will be based to provide flight demos for interested buyers. “The carbon monocoque construction is very solid and strong,” company spokesman Wolf-Rudiger Kruhl told AVweb at the show. “It protects the pilot and passenger very well.” The airplane can perform aerobatics up to plus or minus 10g with both seats occupied. Cruising speed is 200 knots. The airplane sells for $460,000, Kruhl said.
The airplane is powered by a Lycoming six-cylinder 315-hp engine, and runs an MTV three-blade prop with an 80-inch diameter. The company, which was founded in 2005, attracted some new investment about a year ago from HeliPark Group. “XtremeAir will receive all necessary support, now and in the future, to develop and produce its outstanding aircraft,” said managing director Qing Liu in a statement.
