Rockwell Collins has teamed up with ARINC to provide business jet owners with what it says is true high-speed internet connectivity. The eXchange system, which will use ARINC’s Skylink satellite system, will provide “truly high-speed connections to the Internet, company Intranets, fax over IP (FoIP), voice over IP (VoIP) telephone, and data services for Wi-Fi enabled smartphones in the cabin,” an ARINC news release said.

Under the arrangement, Rockwell Collins will sell the hardware, ARINC will supply the satellite signals and ViaSat will supply the gear that makes the two systems work together. Rockwell Collins spokesman Tommy Dodson said customers can look forward to “similar connectivity in the sky to what they experience on the ground.”
