Adam Aircraft CEO Rick Adam reported on his fleet’s progress at AirVenture on Thursday morning. Seven of the A500 centerline-twins have been delivered so far, but the company is working to ramp up its production rate, with a build rate of three A500s per month expected by next year. The first customers have been trained to fly and “the ground training and flight training pipeline is now flowing,” Adam said. Computer-based training will be approved by next July. Also in the works is an Aerosim Advanced Training Device, which will be used for training pilots to fly both the A500 and the A700 jet.

Overall, the company has a healthy backlog and solid funding to reach its goals, Adam said. “We found out it takes a lot of money to certify and build an airplane,” he laughed.
