FlyThisSim introduced a new floor-mounted simulator Wednesday at AirVenture in Oshkosh. The TouchTrainer FM 210 offers full cockpit controls and panels for more than 100 aircraft models with a 210-degree horizontal view. It touts brighter screens and finer resolution than higher-level sim and has Web cameras for remote monitoring of the two-seat simulated cockpit. It’s approved as a Basic Aviation Training Device that uses touch-screen controls, thanks to FlyThisSim’s special FAA authorization. The new model will be available in the next 90 days and will sell for $30,000.

FlyThisSim co-founder Carl Suttle said the wider view outside the cockpit will be favorable for ab initio training as well as recurrency and transition training. “The 210 is mainly designed for skills training,” Suttle told AVweb in an interview. “It really helps people learn the cues required to take off and land.” The company also has two upcoming features on the horizon – worldwide navigation data and avionics for the Garmin GTN 650/750 units.
