A medical helicopter with three men on board crashed Tuesday night in rugged terrain in Arizona, killing the pilot and a nurse. One other crew member, a paramedic, survived. There were no patients on board, The Associated Press reported. The Airbus AS350 helicopter, operated by Native Air, was reported missing about 6 p.m., and local law enforcement was called to search for the aircraft in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, according to The Arizona Republic.

The helicopter departed from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and was eastbound to Globe when it crashed about 55 miles east of Phoenix. Rescue crews found the wreckage when they spotted a flashlight signal from the paramedic, who had attempted to revive one of the other men while awaiting help. He was taken via helicopter to a Phoenix trauma hospital in seriouscondition and was later upgraded to fair condition, the Republic reported.
