CJ3+ Certified

Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

Less than six months after its first flight, Textron Aviation’s Cessna Citation CJ3+ has been certified by the FAA. The FAA stamped the paperwork on Thursday (Sept. 4, 2014) for the aircraft, a modern makeover of the original, which was launched in 2003. The biggest change is the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, which includes the full range of up-to-date functionality on three big touchscreen displays. It also has ADS-B, “which makes it compliant with a significant aspect of future NexGen air traffic control requirements,” Textron said in a news release.

The CJ3+ also comes with an updated cabin with a wireless media server, Iridium sat phone and high-speed internet capabilities. The aircraft has seating for nine and a maximum range of 2070 nautical miles. It’s the fourth Cessna jet certified in the last year, including the clean-sheet M2. Textron hopes to certify its larger Latitude model in the second quarter of 2015.
