The new version of Eastern Air Lines, based in Miami, is recruiting cabin crew this month, to be ready for a start of operations early next year, the company said on Friday. “This is another important step as we prepare to launch the airline,” said CEO Ed Wegel. “We are eager to move forward.” The airline’s first aircraft, a refurbished 737-800, is reportedly nearing completion in Dublin, and will be liveried in a blue-and-white design reminiscent of the original Eastern. The cabin-crew recruiting event is set for Nov. 22 and 23.

Candidates can apply online, and selected applicants will be invited to interviews at the recruiting event, the company said. The original Eastern ceased operations in 1991, and the new owners acquired the rights to the name in 2011. The company will initially operate as a charter airline until it completes Part 121 certification with the FAA.The airlinehas placed an order with Boeing for 10 new 737-800 aircraft, to start deliveries in 2017.
