It seems like everyone is hiring these days and the FAA is hoping to attract its share of candidates for career-oriented applicants through an online job fair on the afternoon of March 25. The so-called Virtual Career Fair requires pre-registration and those who sign up will be able to see what an FAA career might look like. The registration form asks basic identification questions along with education levels and, curiously, about social media participation. It’s well-known that the FAA is looking for air traffic controllers but this hiring push apparently casts a wider net.

On the FAA careers page, the agency says it’s also looking for technical operations specialists, aviation safety inspectors, engineers and “contract specialists.” In a lot of cases, particularly with inspectors, lengthy experience in aviation occupations will be a prerequisite. Although private-sector jobs might pay more in some occupations, the main attraction to an FAA position is its generous benefits and pension plans.
