Tecnam’s P2010 four-seat high-wing airplane now is FAA certified, the company announced this week. The P2010 is a clean-sheet design from the Italian company, featuring an all-carbon-fiber fuselage with a metal wing and stabilator. The cockpit has Garmin G1000 avionics, and the engine is a Lycoming IO-360, paired with an MT constant-speed prop. Tecnam says the airplane can fly at speeds up to 140 knots, with a maximum range of 715 nm and a useful load of 992 pounds. Other features include a third door for back-seat passengers.
Tecnam, which is based in Italy and has a U.S. headquarters and service center in Sebring, Florida, says the airplane’s low operating costs appeal to fight-school operators. The airplane first flew in 2012 and won EASA certification last year. Deliveries have already begun in Europe, with more than 40 of the airplanes flying. The company so far has sold seven of the airplanes to U.S. customers, according to AOPA. The P2010 sells for $345,000.
