New Laser HUD For LSA, Experimental

Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

  • PAT Avionics has introduced the G-HULP, a head-up display (HUD) system for aircraft that uses laser projection to superimpose critical flight data onto a transparent display in front of the pilot.
  • Designed for easy and customizable attachment to an aircraft's glareshield, the G-HULP allows pilots to monitor data while maintaining an outside view, a technology common in military aviation.
  • The system offers flexible integration, capable of operating stand-alone with its own CPU or interfacing with Dynon's Skyview EFIS, and features an open architecture for future compatibility with other avionics suites.
  • The G-HULP HUD system is available with prices starting at approximately $5000.

New from Italian avionics manufacturer PAT Avionics is the G-HULP head up display system. HUD technology is common in military aircraft applications where pilots need to be looking out the windscreen while also monitoring critical flight data. The G-HULP HUD uses laser projection technology that superimposes on a transparent display positioned in front of the pilot and is designed for an easy and customizable attachment to the aircraft glareshield.

The system, which starts at around $5000, can be used stand-alone using a dedicated CPU or through an interface with Dynon’s Skyview EFIS system. Thanks to an open architecture, the company is able to plan future interfaces with other manufacturer’s avionics suites.
