The Hawker 900 XP received type certification on Aug. 24 and company officials say this upgrade of the 800 series will provide greater flexibility and lower operating costs. At the heart of the performance promise are new Honeywell TFE731-50R engines that the company says will boost the numbers across the board. Hawker Beechcraft CEO Jim Schuster said the engines provide “significant improvements in fuel efficiency, range, hot and high altitude takeoff performance and reduced cost of operations.”

In addition to giving the aircraft more power, inspection intervals have been increased to 3,000 hours for the major periodic inspection and 6,000 hours for the compressor zone inspection. The aircraft has a long-range cruise of 2,800 nm with six passengers, and will make the trip from New York to anywhere on the West Coast on most days. It’s priced in the $14.3 million range. First deliveries in the U.S. will start in a few weeks and foreign certifications are in the works.
